Non-Degree / Dates: 8-19 January 2024

Across the globe, there are millions of people who can speak English, but only one million speak Estonian. The language is part of the Finno-Ugric group, related to Finnish and Hungarian. Tallinn University’s online winter course in Estonian Language and Culture offers an opportunity to improve your language skills during real-time online lessons.

After a short online interview, students will be divided into groups based on their initial proficiency in the Estonian language. Please note that participants in one group might have slightly different levels. More advanced students can ask for additional tasks. Usually, there are 8-12 students in one group.

Students will further develop their speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar skills.

Why take this online course?

  • You can be one of the few people capable of speaking a very unique language, spoken natively by only about 1.1 million people.

  • The course has a long history, as the first Estonian language seasonal school took place in the beginning of 1990s.

  • You will be able to find out if Estonian language is really one of the hardest languages to learn or it’s just a myth.

"Very good teacher and work material/load. I am very pleased with the online class. I learned a lot! Online classes are indeed very convenient. The group was a bit heterogenous. But we worked well together indeed! It was my first experience with Zoom and it worked out quite well."
